Iben-Sina Junior High School

Iben-Sina Junior High School was called by this name after Iben-Sina's name. Iben-Sina is considered one of the most important characters in the Arab culture. He was a famous doctor, philosopher and scientist.

We attend school five days a week. Friday and Sunday are our days off. School usually starts at 8:00 a.m. The day ends at 2:00 p.m.

We study different subjects: Arabic, Hebrew, English, History, Religion, Geography, Science, Technology, Mathematics and Sports. Fifty teachers work together to give us, the 602 pupils of this school, the best they can.

The Blind Centre

Iben- Sina School is distinguished by its blind centre. The center was established fifteen years ago. Twenty three pupils belong to the centre. The center works according to the integration theory which believes that a blind or visually impaired pupils who have no such problems in order to prepare him/her for "real" life in the future.

A qualified staff works with the pupils in this centre where they get emotional, social and educational support.

The blind and visually impaired pupils work in their "mother" classes. Each pupil gets 2-4 periods of support from one of the four teachers who work in the centre.

Blind students use Brail signs as their way of reading and writing. Visually impaired pupils enlarge their textbooks in order to read better.

The School Library

This is our school library. It was established in the 1980s. The library opens five days a week: Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

There are many activities in the library. One of them is called "Book Journey" and encourages pupils to read books. At the end of the "journey" students' work and creativity are presented in a festival.
